The Wave Chaser Hydraero Twin Rig SUP Catamaran is the result of 6 years testing & development on a series of prototypes. Wave Chaser SUP Catamarans are purposefully designed to Hydroplane. Composite “C” foils are cambered inward to produce lift onto the rear planning surface of the hulls. This unique set up provides for fast, stable planing and good control through tack and gybe transitions. The low-down power delivery of the twin rigs, combined with a high righting moment, allows the craft to be driven hard in high winds.*
The hull design is based on ocean racing paddleboards, with increased volume for buoyancy and a sunken deck with high rails and a bulbous nose shape for improved stability and handling in swells and choppy water. The bottom surface has minimal rocker and flat surface areas to help relieve resistance to water flow. The bow “V” flows into a triple concave with bevelled chines for improved hydrodynamic lift and fluid release and a flattened area in the rear quarter improves planing stability.
The craft is lightweight and easy to transport on car roof racks. Set up and rigging is relatively simple. Practically any sports/lifestyle enthusiast is able to handle this craft and sail away within minutes.
Experienced crews can revel in higher winds where Wave Chaser SUP Cats are designed to achieve speeds above 20 knots!
Features & Inclusions:
Hull Materials: Prepreg RC200 Carbon Fibre & Vinylester Epoxy Resin infused 2mm Soric Core with Gel Coat.
Raised Platform: The hulls are joined by a full carbon fibre modular elevated platform with moulded carbon sockets supporting a carbon mast assembly. The outboard wings are raised for wave clearance and crew comfort.
Trampoline: The trampoline is made from Lite Skin™ material, a very light weight but strong & durable composite sailcloth. Lite Skin™ doesn't stretch or sag which helps improve crew movement, structural integrity & aerodynamics. Fastening buckles make set up and tensioning a breeze.
Masts: 430cm full carbon masts designed and developed for Wave Chaser with 30% greater bend resistance than the highest IMCS windsurfer mast bend rating on the market.
Booms: 160-226cm alloy booms are set on a 45 degree angle from mast to clew, providing torsional support to the mast.
Sails: Six batten, 6m2 cambered sails are designed to fit carbon, hard top, 430cm masts. The body of the sail is made from a clear Mylar sailcloth with directional load bearing aramid threads.
“C” Foils: Composite “C” Foils are made from M80kg foam core with Prepreg RC200 Carbon Fibre outer.
Rudders: Composite Rudders are made from M80kg foam core with Prepreg RC200 Carbon Fibre outer.
Rudder Cassette: Stern mounted, vertical swivel, rudder cassette with carbon tiller and stainless steel quick release pin.
Rigging: Wave Chaser uses Ronstan blocks, swivels and roping throughout.

*Wave Chaser SUP Catamarans are not designed or engineered to surf breaking waves. This craft is built for speed and handling on flat water to slight 1.5m swells and winds up to 25 knots. In higher swells, and winds above 25 knots, wave slam and overloaded sail power will increase the chance of capsize and or equipment failure.
